Developing da Vinci – Myers Briggs Test Reflection Due on Friday, March 15th.

English 12 Snapshot Pieces Due on Wednesday, March 13th.

A snapshot is a written picture of a moment in time. Unlike a physical photograph, when you write, you’re taking a complete sensory picture. You can discuss the smells, textures, sounds, and sensations in addition to the sights.
More importantly, though, you are able to capture a feeling. All of the details should lead the reader somewhere. The same sun can be an oppressive weight or a comforting embrace. The things you include–and the words you use to describe them—create the tone of the piece.
  • Open with a strong and compelling hook that draws the reader into the incident and makes him/her want to read on.
  • Use a consistent “I” point of view.
  • Contain especially rich sensory/descriptive details including sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch that create a picture in words. Uses strong, interesting verbs and adjectives.
  • Effectively portray a clear sequence of events (not necessarily in chronological order) that helps the reader follow the story line.
  • Leave the reader with a dominant visual impression.
  • Use all of the above elements especially effectively to create a you are there feeling in the reader.
  • Come to a satisfying conclusion that effectively shows and doesn’t just tell why the memory is significant.
  • Correctly follow the conventions of written English (spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure) with few if any errors.
